Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About ADHD and Autism Assessments

Why is the cost so high?

Our fees reflect the significant amount of clinical work involved before, during, and after an assessment. This includes extensive pre-assessment information gathering, several hours of direct assessment tailored to your communication and support needs, detailed mapping of information to recognised diagnostic criteria, and structured multi-disciplinary team discussion. Producing your outcomes also involves many hours of careful, individualised report writing, including strengths-based formulation and personalised recommendations. We use specialist, licensed assessment tools and do not rely on generic templates or brief, checklist-based assessments. Our aim is to provide a thorough, ethical, NICE-informed assessment that accurately reflects you as a whole person.

Does the Beacon Hub accept payment plans?

We accept payment via PayPal, which features "buy now, pay later” options.

Do you have a waiting list?

We aim to keep waiting times transparent and proportionate. Current waiting times vary depending on assessment type and age group. Please contact us directly for up-to-date availability.

Are your assessments accepted by the NHS?

Our assessments are NICE-informed and undertaken by appropriately qualified professionals. However, acceptance by NHS services is at the discretion of local NHS trusts and integrated care systems.

We encourage individuals to discuss private assessment reports with their GP or local service.

Are your reports accepted by schools, universities, or employers?

Many education providers and employers accept private diagnostic reports. However, acceptance depends on organisational policies, please check this before you proceed. Our reports are written clearly and professionally to support reasonable adjustments where applicable.

Can I self-refer?

Yes. We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from healthcare and education professionals.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. The Beacon Hub provides assessment and diagnostic services only. We do not prescribe medication or provide crisis or emergency care.

What ages do you assess?

We assess adults (18±).

How long do assessment typically take?

Pre-assessment questionnaires usually take 45–75 minutes and can be completed in stages. Appointments typically last: ADHD 2-2.5 hours, Autism 2.5-3 hours, Combined 3-4 hours (sometimes split). A 30-60 minute feedback session is also included.

How long will it take you to compete my report?

Assessment time varies depending on the pathway, but most adult autism, ADHD, or combined assessments involve several hours of direct assessment, alongside substantial pre- and post-assessment clinical work. From initial enquiry to final report, the overall process typically takes several weeks. We will always aim to complete your assessment report within 4 weeks from the point of assessment.
